RoboGames 2023 Trip Report
Now that I got all my files from the trip converted I can begin writing this. Notwithstanding the fact that as the now head admin of the RoboGames wiki being as Asbestostar is MIA I have always wanted to go to RoboGames but before 2019 was afraid to fly. So when 2023 was announced I had to go.
I went for the first two days of the event, had a lot of fun and wish I could have stayed longer but without further ado, here's my trip report.
Everything was usual on the trip from Richmond to Atlanta aside from the fact that it was a 5 am wake up time to catch the flight. Slept a bit on the plane and woke up for a breakfast of a frittata. However, on the Atlanta to San Jose leg things were different.
There was a thunderstorm along the intended route…
Updates
Downloaded both the RG23 small bot vods and big arena vods from Twitch, now I will be focusing on transfering the video I took at RG23 (Yes I flew out to the event for two days) including a RoboOne bout and some footage of Bot Hockey from my phones SD card to a USB stick, then editing should get underway.
Maybe even a trip report hmm.
ROBOlympics 2004 Competitors
The very first RoboGames event, ROBOlympics was held in 2004 and was the first of many to feature international entries.
- 1 The List
- 1.1 Competed
- 1.2 Dropped Out
- 1.3 Status Unclear
- 1.4 Demonstration Robots
2003 RSA Holiday Games Competitors
The RSA Holiday Games were the final RSA event before it morphed into what would become RoboGames, it was also the first event to hold combat events above the 1lb weight class, however only the 1lb event is documented.
The RSA (Robotics Society of America) was essentially the precursor to RoboGames, not much info is known about these events and very little video survives. The only thing surviving is the record of the 1lb combat portion of the final three RSA events as well as the registration list for the final one.

2002 RSA Meetup Competitors
I'm going through and retroactively creating a list of competitors for every RoboGames/ComBots event starting from the first event.

The only thing surviving is the record of the 1lb combat portion of the final three RSA events as well as the registration list for the final one.
July 2003 RSA Meetup Competitors
The RSA (Robotics Society of America) was essentially the precursor to RoboGames, not much info is known about these events and very little video survives. The only thing surviving is the record of the 1lb combat portion of the final three RSA events as well as the registration list for the final one. This event was noteworthy for being the first RoboGames/ComBots event to have Team Tiki and Team Plumb Crazy as competitors.
RG23 Competitors
RoboGames 2023 was the first event in 5 years, it suffered from a lot of registrations, however a large chunk of entries wound up dropping out. Despite this there still wound up being a good range of countries represented including the first two Japanese entries into a combat class (NeeBoMan and S-236 Fuchs).
RG18 Competitors
Here is a list of competitors for RoboGames 2018. Note this list is not 100% accurate as there will be robots that drop out without notice, and I am also relying on outside sources for info on who is registered, so some bots could drop out without me noticing.
- 1 List
- 1.1 Registered
- 1.2 Confirmed
- 1.3 Waitlisted
- 1.4 Withdrew
- 1.5 Status Unclear
- 2 Notes
(WL) denotes that the robot in question never made it off the waitlist before dropping out.

Why I have not been editing for a while
Okay you might have noticed that I have not been on r/battlebots, r/robotwars, and have not edited the wiki for days right?
That is because I have several things to do lately. I am getting a new laptop, and it will have a custom skin, so I have to design my own for that.
Second of all is finals, I had to design an animation in photoshop for my finals exam. I just turned that in at 3:00 AM last night so I am kind of running on fumes right now.
RoboGames 2017 Competitors
This list consists of robots known to be registered for RoboGames 2017.
Fantasy Tournament "The New Era"
All rp's will be made on Asbestosstar.com in the forum.
Welcome Y'all. Welcome to the new Era! This is where you cad a robot and fight against other peoples cad models. Here is the rules set for The New Era. Note: this rule set is based of of the robogames rules. So if i do not mention something but robogames rules approve it then it is allowed. But if you are unsure you just ask me. I like new ideas. Plus you can enter is many bots as you want in a weight class. The Sponsors are: The Wallace Store from Roll of Thunder, The Barnett Mercantile from Roll of Thunder, Asbestosstar Inc., Red Bull, and Unity. So this event has lots of sponsors. To enter the event you must make a cad model or drawing. I am not too picky as long as i know what it is…
List of all known Robogames/Combots events
This is a comprehensive list of the events that have been hosted by ComBots, LLC. over the years. The sole exception being ComBots on Ice which was hosted by Robot Revo, and is considered unofficial.
